Ask HN: Do u keep learning new technical stuffs w/o any application

I have been learning a few technical topics mentioned in the threads or books by Hackernews. But there is very little opportunity to use them in real world context. Am I wasting my time?

Learning everything you see is a waste of time for your brain, focus on your niche and pick the right topics.

However this does not mean that you shouldn't learn about these topics but instead give them a low priority and read them as fast as you can.

I don't learn for the sake of learning. I learn what I need to get paid, and ignore the rest. I didn't give a fuck about React one way or another until I got staffed on a project that used it.

Now that I know React, I loathe it. I just put up with it to get paid.
