state independence or secession is routinely brought up in relation to california, idaho, and the PNW, at the very least. it has also been a constant since texas was accepted into the union. spare me the handwringing, americans are disagreeable.
There isn't a regular drumbeat of secession from the state's own politicians and political groupies in those other places, and in California when it is discussed it's a worst-case scenario to protect ourselves, not an isolationist fever dream.
