Until it doesnt. Then there is nothing you can do. It leads to ewaste. Thats what happened to my ipod touch and iphone 6 plus after 2 years.

Uh no. How many phones are running F-droid? Please stop spreading useless fear. And my inlaws or parents have yet to install any malware on their androids. I check regularly.

Yeah, and that unsecured Linux is destroying the world! It’s not about making products less secure. That’s what apple makes you wanna think. It’s about giving customers choice. They can stay in Apple ecosystem (I will for example). Or they can not. True, countless times I had to fix friends/family android tablets and phones where all of the sudden apps stopped working and will boot crash . It is always some crap like apps messing settings and permissions or play not being updated etc… I converted most of family to iPhone/iPad problem solved. I am a tech person but when it comes to phones I want the damn thing just to work and simple to use.

none of these things you mentioned are specific to Android. this happens on iOS too.

This is a big step in the right direction to rein big tech. 100% inter operability based on common and accepted standards should be the next step. For eg. XMPP for messaging etc. I don't use Whatapp, and remain unconnected due to the mass adoption of that product.

They can try but it’s much less effective in the EU.

US government just doesn’t care about its people

did you feel proud when the eu passed the cookie law? are you proud every time you have to wait for and click through a cookie modal? (never mind the development costs) you might end up with an ad- and app-store- riddled europhone and if you decide that you want to buy a us or international spec iphone you won’t be permitted to do so.

Yes. I like the cookie walls. It’s a constant reminder most websites are garbage.

I welcome my ad- and app-store riddled europhones and then chose to not use most apps that use tracking ads
