While this isn't the forum for casual conversations, I do wonder if HN could use a general forum. It could be self-moderating, where if it gets a cumulative 25% downvote traffic (> 25 downvotes per 100 upvotes), it automatically shuts down for 24 hours, thus possibly promoting a simple form of group-governance.
