Bingo. The technical decisionmaking has been delegated to product managers with business degrees who have probably never even used the product they're demanding be riddled with hundreds of KB of digital litter, much less written a single line of code. Capitalism will kill us all.

This has nothing to do with capitalism, it is about engineers being overridden. You can find all kinds of similar hideous stories under communism, and more, with its fixation on central planning. Any system which decouples decision-making from local ground-truth wisdom will run into this kind of error.
