Really enjoyed watching https://m.imdb.com/title/tt2400291/ about the race.

There's also a lot of beautiful ultra running content on YouTube, for instance https://youtu.be/NDZdsqbcGTU (also about the Barkley marathons). I have no ambition to run any ultra distances but watching some of these videos is inspiring for some reason.

A lot of people find the Barkley Marathons through the documentaries. If you find stuff like this compelling, I'd recommend Nikki Kimball's Finding Traction or some of the shorter stuff at Aravaipa Running's YouTube channel[0]. The Western States Endurance Run just took place this last weekend and was live-streamed for 30 hours. Similarly, Ultra-Trail du Mont Blanc (UTMB) is next month and will have a much more professional livestream.
