There are plenty of other forums. The other day William Osman just told all his followers to come here because it's "like Reddit used to be" for example.

Before reddit, these sorts of forums were hosted on their own websites. I think having a forum on reddit these days is a major liability. I wonder if these forums would benefit from being hosted in a more de-centralized and durable manner.
Unfortunately, forums seem to be a dying medium. The few communities that still exist tend to use things like Discourse (which I dispise); funny to think that people used to pay hundreds of dollars for VBulletin and XenForo licenses.
A worrying trend is new communities using, or existing communities migrating to, Discord.

That is the world we live in. Every movement or protest has people who resort to violence. Whether actual protesters, or whether infiltrated by someone looking to discredit the movement.
