I have yet to find any competitor which provides its own results and is even 50% as good as Google's results. Features are nice, but for a search engine results are everything.
Kagi is even better than Google in my opinion. I’m still thinking whether I want to pay a subscription for it but it’s tempting since the results are so good. With google you can search with type:pdf so that you filter in scientific papers. I'd also suggest that the phrase 'correct information' does suggest you already know what you believe you're looking for (otherwise how would you know what you're reading is incorrect?).
