I think something similar every time I look at the massive scar on my ankle where I had a steel plate installed after an injury. This is going to seem tremendously primitive sometime soon.

My father had a relatively similar tibia injury in the 70s that predated the plate installations and his tibia is not quite straight and took about 6 months to heal in a hip-height cast. I ran a 7 minute mile 3 months to the day after my injury.

You'll be disappointed to learn that we, in fact, do have taste buds everywhere inside our bodies, including the gut, lungs and bladder. Not clear whether there are any in the ass per se, but having experienced no.2 after eating very spicy food, I wouldn't be surprised.
