Ask HN: Is there any good wired mouse in the market?

Last year, my cheap HP mouse started giving me a huge amount of pain in the arm. It was tiny and I had a really poor grip on it most of the times (I have long fingers).

So, I started searching for a replacement. My criteria were that the new mouse should be ergonomic, large and wired. I scoured the review sites, shopping sites, the whole shebang.

I couldn't find a single mouse that fits all the criteria. Hence the question.

P.S.

1. I eventually bought a wireless mouse, an ASUS MW203. It is reasonably large and it has helped reduce my pain a lot. But sadly, I couldn't get my hands on it's mythical wired version.

2. It is surprisingly hard to find a large mouse in the sea of compact and portable (read: small) ones.

3. I prefer going wired when it comes to electronics and stuff. They are easy to repair and disengage (you just have to pull the wire). It is just a preference and not a crusade against wireless devices.

This is awesome. There seems to be a large (and even extra large!) version available as well. I have added it on my shopping list to give it a try.

A question though: is it narrow and long? I have felt myself to be more comfortable with wider ones because they keep all my fingers on the body and not dragging around the mousepad.

have you checked LG g502? I don't have long fingers imo, so not sure if it fits your purpose but I have been using it for 8 years now (bought a new one 2 years ago since first one worn out)

Did you mean Logitech G502? I tried searching for LG G502 but it doesn't seem to be appearing anywhere on my regular shopping sites.

As far as Zowie mice go, the EC1 is the beefier, wider model. Steer clear of the FK1 as that model is the narrow and longer one. There are a pretty wide array of other models to choose from aside from those as well.

This is one of my pet peeves too!

It sounds like we have similar preferences, my perspective is that they basically stopped making usable mice and keyboards 20 years ago, and nearly everything since then (especially via regular retail channels) has stupid gimmicks like extra programmable buttons, wireless, lights, is way too small ("laptop"), flimsy build, etc.

One of my favorites is the Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical:

It does come in USB too, and various colors. Although the model is 20 years old or something, you can still get them occaisionally on Amazon, ebay, etc as new old stock, OEM versions, etc. Whenever I see some, I grab a few to keep me going for the next few years.
