There's a leaked report from the US Supreme Court that they might vote to overturn Roe v. Wade, a landmark court decision tied to abortion rights.
The Twitter thread poses a scenario where if the decision were overturned, law enforcement might be able to acquire data from period-tracking apps and combine it with location data (as sold by Peter Thiel to the government in the past) to infer when women may have gotten an illegal abortion in order to prosecute them.

Thanks, that seems like what the tweet is implying to me too.
...And it's ridiculous. I very much doubt that there are any people living in a red state (where abortion could in theory soon be illegal), and are also on twitter to read this tweet, and also use a smartphone period tracker.

Oh it’s blown up. I just saw that tweet on my Instagram. And I am in a red state. And I do use a period tracker (a LOT of people do who have periods these days!)

Yes, That sounds very usual. Even some of my friends who has no intention of getting pregnant are using such apps.
