Entry-level programmer and web developer. Not entry level like Indeed job postings define it (i.e. need 5 years of professional experience). This is my first tech job after over 15 years as a civil engineer, and after spending the pandemic learning and making personal projects like web-scrapers, microcontroller devices, a Django tutorial website, and even managed a TV credit! And I can talk with people.

Other past professional experience: real estate sales, operate e-commerce website through shopify, an etsy shop

Confirming I am not a robot: Hobbies are mountain biking, snowboarding, music, and being a dad.

Software Engineer with CS background and understanding of creating product value proposition for customers.

Prefer a team that deems it is important to seek out other technically competent people to work with. Also prefer teams that take ownership of the stack as much as possible, in which the stack has business and technology.

Hello, my name is Jesse. I'm looking to solve hard problems which could have a net positive impact on the world. Examples of fields that interest me are genetics, developer tooling (compilers, static analyzers, ???), 3D graphics, data streaming.

I'm a competent C and C++ programmer. The C++ spec weighs a lot, so I'm hesitant to call myself an expert, but I have a good working knowledge of both languages. For previous employers I've worked on everything from Win32 applications to reverse-engineering Valves Source2 engine.

I've been working on the foundations of a 3D game engine for ~5 years, which has taught me a great deal about C, systems, and graphics programming on both Win32 and Linux. I chose to build it without libraries (Handmade Hero style) which began as a learning exercise, but ended up teaching me the value of simplicity.

I can configure and maintain webservers, proxies and load balancers having worked with the web for 10+ years.

I have a good understanding of the Linux network stack and APIs - I've worked on several custom TCP + UDP protocols in the past.

I love building tools. I've worked on game engines, compilers, performance profilers, a debugger and reverse-engineering tooling. These types of projects get me fired up.

Lastly, I'm a systems programmer at heart. I love having direct access to the CPU and needing to understand the hardware architecture, as opposed to the internals of an interpreter, to write well-working and well-performing code. I strive to learn and understanding the core of what I'm working on.

That's the cliff-notes on my technical background. As a person I'm friendly and easy to get along with. I like the phrase "Have strong opinions, weakly held".

Outside of work I enjoy backcountry skiing, snowmobiling, rock-climbing, surfing, biking and beer! I live in a small town called Revelstoke in British Columbia, Canada and would strongly prefer to work remotely. I've been working remotely for ten years and I love it!

If you think I could be a good fit for your team and would like to chat I can be contacted by email at jesse.hughes.it@gmail.com

I'm a CS college graduate that has been struggling to get my foot in the door. I'm a beginner at multiple languages, but eager to learn. I have a preference for companies that focus on directly helping the lives of others, such as the health and education industry.

Hi I'm Dario. I've spent 6 years doing cybersecurity related research and development for the US Air Force and DARPA. My experience includes hacking autonomous vehicles, mesh networking, reverse engineering, biometrics, lab software, natural-language processing, and more. I've also managed subcontractors, taught operators how to use our software, and wrote whitepapers, winning proposals, and extensive documentation.

For the last few months, I've been helping build an online community for industrial startups. I am now looking to get back into the technical weeds.
