Re: Google Maps points as potential Russian attacks
#12Be very careful in how this is handled and don't just trust anonymous accounts that suddenly pop out of nowhere to start asking for disabling strategic services, this may well play into the hands of the occupiers, please coordinate with Ukrainian forces before taking action on anything like this.

While I agree with coordinating and I don't think google should take it down based on a single message. I can personally vouch for @dzehv, I know him and know he is in Ukraine actively on the cause. I suggested he make this post since I didn't know anyone at google to directly relay it.

Thank you for the clarification, the behavior here on HN was quite comparable to what has been seen by bots on other occasions, lots of new accounts all copy-pasting the same message.

Sorry for copy-pasting, that was just to "upvote" by real people here. In any case, even according to the logic - the ability to do marks on the map, it's more beneficial for the russian invaders, and therefore helping to resolve this issue is the right thing to do.
Best of luck there, you are fighting for all of us.

Agreed, apologies for being skeptical but these are strange times and I wanted to make sure we did not accidentally do the Russians a favor because I have no idea how Ukrainian forces are coordinating. I understand the matter is now resolved and that Google has acted and is in contact with your authorities. Best of luck there, you are fighting for all of us.
