The previous release was 14.2 and it happened on 2016-06-30. It was on 4.4 kernel.

And kernel 4.4's upstream EOL was two days ago. Talk about timing.

Slackware was one of the first distros I used seriously. Five plus years between releases is an awfully long time. Glad to see it's still alive.
