I do think Apple captures plenty of meta data, but I do not know how much physical motion is getting sent back. One of the goals of the secure enclave was to store biometrics. And despite some notable concerns, the company has generally aligned its business model and branding to be privacy focused.
I can't think of another large company I'd trust more to handle this kind of information.

The transformation is already underway. When Apple delivered Google Maps on iPhone with its pulsing blue dot, those with the technology instantly leapt ahead of those without it. I wonder how much stress has been relieved just from people knowing where they are.
I agree the technology can be misused, even to oppress. But this is true with any tech.
My concern is more about the disparity of those who have this tech and those that don't. The enhancements could start to show in a matter of years and quality of recommendations could coalesce into what will look like a new plane of daily living.

Most studs have things (like drywall) nailed to them, and the nails are usually made of iron. So, all you need is a high-power rare earth magnet. I use a particularly strong refrigerator magnet. The difference is the number of transmitters / receivers. I still have a Sony CD camera (as in disk not ccd) which has near IR and a IR led. Fun to play with for night recording (its intended use) and you can see though thin clothes a tiny bit but range is very limited. Skin patterns much less due to lacking contrast. Resolution in that mode is also lacking so detail is not really a thing. I can understand the problem and I think that is the reason my IR camera in my laptop…

#169A technical error in one of the diagrams: Hall effect sensors are not binary, but one-dimensional, and are used so; their output voltage is directly proportional to the magnetic field strength. As for PIR sensors, fundamentally they’re certainly not binary, but I have no idea if they perhaps expose only a binary signal. A better example of a binary sensor might be an on/off switch.
thats a good point about the hall sensors. i'll update that. PIR sensors also output an analog signal, but in practice they are binary.
