#2I have a DevOps at home who barely finished high-school and now receive double the pay than me with an M.A. - but I am 100% sure he studied, read, practiced, explored a looooot more than me! So it's not enough to just do courses, you almost need to devote your life to it...
Schools (formal teaching) perhaps give you a more structured learning path, you don't waste time (if it's a good program) searching for answers... it can be a good foundation... and everyone must realize - in IT, your learning never-ever stops...
