#2Elixir is a natural fit for telephony applications, though it is possible that there are not so many of them anymore. Everything is web-based now, and telephones will go the same way as the Minidisc.

Telephones are still ubiquitous. Don't hold your breath. I agree that Elixir sounds interesting for controlling anything real-time, though my experience is rather limited.
