It might as well be true, but then you should also expect other countries to start dealing with Apple as a part of the US gov. and not a purely private party.

#4How different is this from the 1980's in the U.S., when Japanese auto makers decided that they needed to start building cars in America, and otherwise placating American politicians and voters with big piles of money?

I find it interesting you see Apple a national asset needing special scrutiny. It might as well be true, but then you should also expect other countries to start dealing with Apple as a part of the US gov. and not a purely private party.
That is exactly what happened and that's why they approached Tim Cook.
