In Denmark we have now reached 90% vaccination rate. We have more infected, the same number of admissions in hospital and a 15% higher death rate than all of 2020. I really fail to see why we are blaming the unvaccinated and not Pfizer/Moderna.

What is the breakdown of unvaxxed/vaxxed in hospital admissions and deaths? Serious question. I wonder about vaxx effectiveness when I see these numbers. But the breakdown matters. I live in Nova Scotia, Canada. Our breakdown from Mar 15-Nov 26 is[1]: - Hospitalizations: 84.4% unvaxxed, 9.6% 1 shot, 6% 2 shots - Deaths: 69% unvaxxed, 7.1% 1 shot, 23.8% 2 shots Total admissions and death rate numbers don't tell the wh…

> from what I can tell the 2-shot people who die are generally older and/or infirm. So I believe the 2shot numbers are being thrown off by an atypical population...

People over 50 make up 1/3 of the population and 93% of covid deaths.

The overwhelming majority of people that die from this thing are older and/or infirm. It has nothing to do with an atypical population, that's just how this virus works.

The vaccine can only do so much. We need to stop pretending it's the "slam dunk" our experts advertised it as and get on with our lives.

What I really like about all these different threads and topics on COVID is the mastery of control that is shown. We have viable treatments that work and could be prescribed en masse. Not discussed, not mentioned. The sole discussion topic is "vaccines" and mask theatre. Totally ignoring any inconvenient data about either. Everyone's focus is to tear each other apart about which level of destruction is best for the n…

When you're essentially killing other people you've stepped outside of your my body, my choice parameters unless you also agree to stay home and not be a disease vector. You don't have the right to give me, my kids, my wife, or my family covid when a simple safe and effective vaccine is available.

I keep seeing this repeated. Why do so many people still think leaky vaccines prevent transmission?

This is a bit hyperbolic. Wide scale COVID vaccination is needed for a functioning society.

It's clear that waves of death won't stop without it. Especially now with Omicron, the fourth wave. In the US, average life expectancy dropped more than 1.5 years in 2020-2021. More than any year since WWII.

Right now, COVID vaccine is more important than wearing clothes in public. And being naked in public checks more of your boxes for making you a non-person than nonvax restrictions. Being naked in public you go straight to jail.

So is forced wearing of clothes even more authoritarian than nonvax restrictions?

Well, no. Neither are authoritarian because they're both needed for a functioning society. Unvaccined are a literal danger to the public with how contagious and deadly COVID is.

If you don't want to wear clothes or be vaccinated that's fine. But expect to be pushed to the edges and marginalized for not following basic requirements for a functioning society.

You aren't "essentially killing other people". This is shifting the blame of the virus onto people. Vaccinated people can still transmit the virus. Yet you don't blame them.

I don't have the right to give you covid, nor do I want that right. But it may or may not happen regardless of whether I am or am not vaccinated. Similarly, you don't have the right to tell anyone what to inject into their own body. If you want it, then inject yourself with it, as many people have.

How would you feel if I forcefully injected you with a "vaccine" that prevents all imaginable diseases? Or one that keeps you in peak physical condition for as long as you live? One that makes you immortal? I take it that you would be rather open to the idea considering those things seem desirable...

Somehow I think these super heavy handed measures toward covid are a big mistake. My opinion: - Remove all restrictions, let people assess their own risk tolerance and voluntarily follow country's health guidance (or not). - If ICUs start getting maxed out, implement bed rationing, with unvaccinated patients having lowest priority. - Tell everyone to go on with their lives and that covid is here to stay. There's no e…

That's the most rational plan. However pharma companies can just buy media presence, create panic and criticize their authorities(this happens to Bolsonaro in Brazil for example). Then riots begin, generating a whole other set of problems for the authorities who have no other choice but to save their neck and concede pharma companies demands.

I'm a Victorian too, this is exactly me. Everyone still laying judgement on my choice but 1) I can't go anywhere anyway 2) where is the promised herd immunity? I'm lucky to have a big house and garden, just gonna keep waiting for this to end.

Looks like there are more of us than I thought :) My problem is that mandate is weighing so much on the "bad" side, that the "good" side is completely dwarfed. In other words, I'm unable to reason about the vax, as I never was able to make good decision in similar situation. That mandates are introduced on top of previous completely useless and hostile measures like curfews, outdoor playgrounds closures, etc. and gen…

Exactly. There has just been constant appeals to ‘science’ but how can I trust this science if I can’t inspect it? Even in a simple system, a small change can create chaotic consequences. I absolutely have a right to know what I am being forced to take into my body: an incredibly complex system. And I don’t care if someone calls me “selfish”, all human behaviour is selfish. There is no such thing as a completely altruistic decision. People pushing for mandates just want “things back to normal” (not realistic), which is fine, but it’s their personal prerogative that I don’t have to care for. Every decision a human makes is self-centred.

The irony about using "my body, my choice" in this context is that the very phrase is constructed to justify the killing of another person, by conveniently pretending that the other person doesn't yet exist.

The legality of the government forcing a medical procedure for the common good been decided by the supreme Court nearly 100 years ago. There is no specific "liberty" that is being violated here.

The same decision (Jacobson v. Massachusetts, 1905) is what allowed the Eugenical Sterilization Act of 1924 and to force the sterilization of the undesirables. If a law would be proposed today to disallow covid-unvaccinated people from having children, I bet you a good number of leftists would agree with it.

Not saying that I advocate for the following, but from reasoning logically, I've arrived at the following based on simplified assumptions. I would love to hear any possible counter-arguments against this hypothetical outcome:

Assuming that unvaccinated people are more likely to die from covid (and hence reproduce), then over time, they would naturally be written out of the gene pool. Or at least drastically dwindle in numbers compared to those vaccinated.

I am personally in favor of what you've stated. I don't believe we will ever be rid of covid, it is likely endemic. To add to your list, I would like to see additional measures put in place to provide adequate ventilation and filtering of the air. I am becoming increasingly convinced that promotion of cleaner air would serve well to reduce the impact of airborne diseases.
