I find it ironic that there are plenty comments that paint the picture of how mandatory vaccinations divide the country. Hello? Have you been awake for the last month? How much more divided can a country already be when the absolute democratic majority has made their decision months ago to take the shot but 30% are holding everyone back. Anyone in my family or from my friends that has taken one for the team (and got…

Everyone uses the propaganda numbers. Here are the official ones:

https://impfdashboard.de/en/

Fully vaccinated:

  60+: 86.1%
  18+: 79.3%
  12–17: 46.6%
Your only argument is not clogging up the ICUs. The only age group that has a significant risk is 60+, so isolate them or vax them or both. Forceful vaccination of 12-17 years olds will do exactly nothing for ICUs.

I also do not understand the focus on ICUs. Put up military field hospitals, intubation is questionable anyhow, just give oxygen. Most facilities in ICUs are not required for Covid (as I understand it, happy to be corrected if someone here actually has first hand experience).

Your logic is insane. There are countries were a majority agrees with female/male circumcision. I guess you'd be the first to go slashing at people's genitals because the minority is holding everyone back.

I hadn't thought about this, but I bet a majority of the people in the USA refusing vaccinations are totally fine about mutilating their male babies by slicing off chunks of their penis.

It's terrifying how many things I used to be told in my youth about the "free world" have turned out to be blatant lies in the last few years. It's one thing to be forced by ruthless government but ordinary people demanding to be left without a choice is a sight to behold.

I'm ashamed to admit that for a couple of months early last year I actually believed in the "pandemic". I was really confused because so many countries acted along the same lines. And then I had. It was a basically a flu though my sense of smell has been degraded since then. My parent (70+) had it this last fall, my father ended up in hospital (no ICU or anything drastic). Still, my mother had had a much closer call with a flu a few years ago.

Now the company I work for forces me between undertaking experimental medical procedures and getting much better at leetcode. You know what's funny? They require we get pricked and go back to the office in Jan. But even though everyone will be fully "vaccinated" they still demand masks in the office. You know what's really funny? Of all our offices across the globe (including China of all places) only American ones require "vaccination". Most others at worst recommend masks.

Speaking of "pandemics". You know what you'd see if there were one (aside from bodies lying in the streets)? How about hermetically sealed borders? Including our southern one. With the border patrol shooting anything approaching it with no warning. Last time I checked the news, they were not even demanding "vaccination" papers.

Also I kind of remember "masks are necessary for medical professionals only", "2 weeks to not overload the ICU", "it's just a pinch", ".. or two", " .. and probably a second booster", , ".. possibly every 6 months?".

Also, do you recognize that the government peddling all this "pandemic" propaganda is the same we have seen in action for the last couple of years? They have spectacularly failed at their core business of maintaining rule of law and fighting wars. Well, at least not losing one more humiliatingly than the Soviets. Why would you trust your health to them? My body my rules, anyone?

So true and not mentioned enough by the media. The fact that we lost more than 4000 ICU beds over last year (during the Corona pandemic!!) because of personnel shortage is mind-boggling. Instead of rewarding those who worked these horrible jobs and maybe attract new workers with better conditions (e.g. more holidays), better pay or tax reduction, our politicians did campaigning and ignored the upcoming winter. Now th…

In Germany, the majority of the cases are from unvaccinated people getting sick and infecting other people https://rocs.hu-berlin.de/publication/maier-2021-germany/

That is one paper from a couple of postdocs.

> 1) Mandatory vaccination, all age groups, boosters etc. 50% to 60% of all the people in ICU with covid related symptoms in the EU atm are fully vaccinated. It's been lies from day one: "masks do not protect" then "masks are mandatory because they protect" (I don't know which one is correct but at least one is a lie), "you're a conspiracy theorist if you think there's any link between a virus research lab in Wuhan a…

The pdf below has up to date UK statistics.

I’m confused. I thought vaccinated people can spread the virus. Why are they not locked down too?

Because this was never about any virus, it's about social control and covering up for political failures of the last several decades.

As a double vaccinated German, I am very disappointed and angry about this move. Our politicians have failed to prepare the country for the Winter (who could have known...). We lack a basic strategy how to cope with Covid. And now they try to fix this by dividing the country in two. This will have no effect whatsoever on the infections, it will just continue to drive a divide that is already existing and will make an…

> And now they try to fix this by dividing the country in two. This will have no effect whatsoever on the infections, it will just continue to drive a divide that is already existing and will make anti-vaxxers even more convinced that this is a big conspiracy. You could say this about any law that enforces some uncomfortable behavior change. Anyone who remembers when seat belt laws became real, sees history repeating…

Ironically, this probably proves their point of "this being a slipper slope", since now the fact that we agreed to wear seatbelts is used to force us to do other things.

No, it's not the goal. The goal is also not to split society in two and create a group that'll hate everyone forever, just because our leaders can't own up to their mistakes. The goal is to get through the pandemic best we can, and keeping societal values and principals intact should be an important part of that.

what values? half the population doesn't value science, rationality, wisdom, progress etc. I don't wanna be governed by science deniers. I also don't wanna spend years in lockdown because people are refusing to get pricked by a needle

Values such as politicians not insulting a group of people on television, not taking their rights away because they might potentially get sick eventually, generally not judging before proven guilty, not forcing someone to put something in their body that they absolutely do not want, not punishing one person for another person's crime. Last one is what they're doing to you if you feel like unvaccinated people are holding you hostage.

Lockdowns end when we stop enacting them, there is no reason (except governmental screw up) to insist that people who chose to take the risk must not get sick under any circumstances, or to assume that everyone must be in lockdown until every last soul is jabbed and boostered whether they want to or not.

I am double vaccinated, pro vax, would get booster if I can, but if this happens in my country I will join the riots. I dont have solution, but if people dont want to get vaccinated they shouldn't be forced, period. I am afraid this pressure will create people that are against all vaccines, and when we get like 20% of new parents not vaccinating their new lockdown babies (which are a lot, everyone i know who can be p…

send families 1 test per week so they can stop the spread quicker This is a great idea, and I'm really curious why we don't have something like this, just mail a free mask and a free test to every address once a week, with a form to request more for larger households, or to request that they stop.

The UK has done a really good job with this. Anyone can order 7 tests online for no charge.

Germany had elections at the end of September, and I feel that this is the main reason for the catastrophy that is unfolding now. It has prevented the ruling parties from imposing stricter vaccination requirements more early on. They could have easily required everyone to be vaccinated by November first, and this current situation would have been spared. Now the government still has to do it, but they need to rush it…

Everyone will get this virus. Countries that do good now will do bad later and countries that did bad now we do good later. It's all inevitable. All you can do is take it on the chin or delay it. Every country has predetermined number based on their population demographics and health, that they will hit and there's no thing we can do about it.

Nothing we can do about it?

Vaccines work.
