I agree and not even remotely jokingly. Higher education outside of STEM has been nonsense for quite some time. Inside of STEM, it has been an outdated form of education for just as long. The encroachment of socialism into the educational sphere needs to accelerate. The sooner it destroys itself the better.

As long as UC is not burnt right now, these expert wouldn't stand up and open their mouth, till there is no need to stand up anymore. The solution, well, as Taleb said: we need to be more than intolerant with some intolerant minorities. Stand up and fight right now.

As a native English speaker I read "such as" to mean "including but not limited to." STEM is a field (although still broad) and they are looking for accomplishment in a field.

STEM is a very broad field, and core, not an incidental.

How many Cal Poly SLO grads at Stripe (or choose any stratospheric make-you-rich company you like) compared to Stanford grads?

This might just be a numbers thing because their program isn't as large. It has a top-10 engineering program for schools that don't offer doctorates, so I'd be surprised if it's CS program isn't at least solid.

I have no problem with CalTech. I have several friends who work there. But... your comment does not reflect well on CalTech. I don't think you're doing a good job of defending your alma mater, here. You may want to reconsider your comment, if that's your intent. OTOH if you are being sarcastic and trying to insult CalTech, then by all means... Mission accomplished.
