In the USA it’s a hot issue right now whether the schools work for the parents, or whether the schools have autonomy from parents. I read articles like this (and others) and I feel we’ve swayed too far into the “schools are autonomous” side of things. I want it to swing back.
I think school choice is the ideal middle ground. Schools can offer a variety of ways to teach and parents can pick from them / start their own school and provide another offering. One size fits all is bound to cause problems as our society becomes more diverse and accepting.
