If they used an XPS people might accidentally realize that you don't need a notch to put a camera at the top of your screen.

Man. The screen was not cut by a notch, rather it grow to envelope the camera.

Compare the top bezel in a pre-notch mac book and you will see that the camera is basically on the same place as before, but the bezel is now smaller.

Yes. If you use iCloud Photo Library then CSAM is scanned server-side. Same it has always been and no different to every other service.

I am referring to the on device flavor - if it does not apply to macOS that is great.

The server-side version is strictly less private.

I ended up getting tired of this fight and built a windows box. I've recently tried to migrate back to the mac but it's just terrible with another monitor. Crazy that this is still a thing.

I’ve noticed the cursor on M1 goes really laggy and buggy when you drain the battery to 0% (so it hibernates-ish) and then plug the laptop back in (waking it).

Did they fix the misplaced keyboard focus and missing tab order when you mistype a password on the lock screen?

That's been making me crazy for the last few macOS releases.

Honestly sounds like you might want an iPad. I recently got one to use as a secondary display just for Slack /Discord/etc, but after connecting a trackpad & keyboard I totally fell in love. It's a very simplistic environment, but it's actually quite nice as an alternative to the full-blown macOS.

People say this, and then when you say “sure but one of my full screen apps is VS Code and another one is the Terminal, how do I get that on an iPad?” they go “Honestly sounds like you might want a Mac.”

There is now a web version of vscode and you can ssh into your environment.

Shouldn't be seeing that unless you have misbehaving NFS mounts or something.

Yes, it's a watchdog kernel panic which takes place after the fans spin up. No NFS mounts here.
