#12Re: AWS makes one-time donation of $5000 to curl
#13What a ridicolous amount....aws is almost mocking the curl developers with such a shitty sum and a one-time payment as well. What is wrong with these tech companies? Completely out of touch with the reality of the rest of the planet.

#14The "congratulations" is a bit condescending. AWS clearly benefits from curl. But I guess that is FOSS in a nutshell.
AWS C++ SDK uses it to access AWS. Probably some other AWS SDKs as well. That amount should have been at least 10x and recurring.

Don't we all?

According to your logic they shouldn’t have even donated.

That's a bit overstated. Although curl wrappers exist for most languages, they're far from popular or consensual in each individual community.

If you give a mouse a cookie, he's going to ask for a glass of milk. They didn't have to donate at all. $5k is not an insignificant amount of money for most people.
But it is an insignificant, rounding-to-zero, amount of money for Amazon given how much they rely on curl (and other OSS).
