I went cold-turkey with facebook and twitter a few years back for my own mental health and never looked back. Facebook did nothing but convince me that everyone else's life was more amazing than mine, and twitter did nothing but show me tons of posts about how horrible life was. They both had addictive qualities though and I also noticed when I interacted on them that it brought out the worst in me. I felt much better about everything when I left both of them.

Isn't that how fundraising works? You make people commit to "supporting your cause" with a trivial pledge, so that when you ask for actual money they can't back out without losing face.
"I will maybe log off at some point" sounds like maybe too weak a pledge to me, but I'm sure they've focus grouped the shit out this.

The website is silly indeed but the plan is to logout on november 10th. They'll probably send an email or something.

Yeah if I'm the type of person who is tired of Facebooks misuse of private information, I'm not going to demonstrate that by giving away private information.

#10Why would anyone sign up to this, leaving personal information on a website for.. no reason at all? A massive coordinated logout doesn't need such data about yourself. There's also much better that can be done, but this sort of thing never makes a dent anyhow. Feels more like free sources of people to send mails and pamphlets to about the actual subjects the organization, Kairos, focuses on.
