#352It’s sad to me that so many people just can’t see this as common sense. Why do you need an insider to tell you FB is bad? Look at it. Look all around. It reminds me of when I was a kid any every smoking adult around me was hacking their lungs up. I didn’t need the surgeon general or some fancy research published in a medical journal to draw the conclusion that smoking was bad.
I suppose many may be too young to remember a world without FB and it would be difficult to distinguish society today and in the past but things are not well.

Not just Facebook that is structured like this. And as someone said, it's very public. You must be making investment decisions without looking at any corporate documents.

As a start, every publicly traded company in the US publishes an annual and quarterly report that is available to anyone for free. Those generally have quite a bit of information about what's going on with the company, its structure, financial situation, management, etc.
Searching for `$COMPANY_NAME annual report` is a good start

You know, I would like to believe this is the case. That some combination of litagation, legislation etc will bring down FB. But outside of the HN bubble I'm unfortunately doubtful it'll actually happen. My friends and family outside of tech has no issues with what FB is doing. Wallstreet also seems to have no issues with what FB is doing. It really just seems to be the techies on HN that are yelling and screaming.
If no-one outside HN has a problem with FB, who are we to tell them they are wrong? Maybe we are wrong.
Yeah and maybe the earth is flat too. Facebook and their ilk are destroying humanity. Not that I really care, we are a cancer anyway.

I don't think we should want good people to stop working for Facebook. That never made sense to me. Facebook isn't going anywhere, and as such it should be improved, and the only way that will happen is if good people keep going to work there and trying to make it better.
No, but if fewer people want to work for Facebook that Facebook has to pay them more to get them onboard, Facebook has a financial incentive to do better.

I think we can maintain individual rights trivially while still sending people to jail who threaten to murder people. Other lines can be carefully drawn. The idea that if we regulate harmful behavior AT ALL we will suddenly enact 1984 seems thoughtless.

This is always disclosed when a company files to go public. It's not secret. It's actually good for long term shareholder value in most cases.
