#3I've been wondering if/when China would start tightening their rules.
However I'm not entirely clear from the article exactly what the status of crypto in china now is. It's not clear to me from the quoted statement if it is actually illegal to use crypto to pay for something or to hold or transfer it, or if it's something a bit more subtle and limited.

Its literally just a restatement of their 2017 pronouncement with no changes.
Its being hyped as "new" but its not.

#9The use of “illegal” in this article is highly ambiguous.
I can't read the text and be certain whether it means that transactions in it are prohibited, or that it simply does not have the same status as legal tender, as in currency that companies are required to accept.

#10This seems to me the same as their old pronouncements. Nothing new as in newsworthy. Maybe they are doing this as a reminder of their older announcements? Sort of like "I told you so!"
