This move: helping employees move to a different state is actually totally OK. The problem is the dark money and superpacks (citizens united supreme court ruling etc). This is a bipartisan problem that both Obama and Trump claimed they would fight. Obama couldn't get any traction for this, I'm unaware of anything Trump tried to do other than attacking the liberal side of this. Biden also went out against this but it'…
Another view is that the constitution as written allows the $$$. That's bad, but the solution is to amend the constitution, not have SCOTUS ignore it.

#22Won't this make Texas less likely to flip blue to stop these kinds of laws?
Any more than lets say California flipping red?

You can be held liable for aiding and abetting as well.[1] You don't have to have an unplanned pregnancy yourself to suffer from this law. Even if you aren't impacted at all, you might not want to live in a state where this sort of law is supported. Still probably not going to be a ton of people, but the gesture can still be appreciated. [1]: https://legiscan.com/TX/text/SB8/id/2395961#:~:text=sec.%201...
I think most people are missing the even greater impact of this bill. If it's allowed to stand, it sets a precedent of "I didn't make xyz illegal, that's unconstitutional -- I just set up a system to reward vigilante anti-xyz enforcement." Vigilante enforcement of power structures has a long history in Texas. The Klan was really big there, esp. in East Texas. (Source: I have a lot of Texas ancestry, and we have bad s…
So does my wife’s family, and that’s because they started some weird sex cult.

Does Texas really need to flip blue if the country transitions away from the electoral college? The arguments being made for doing so recently have quite a bit of sense when you think about it.
Good luck actually doing it. https://www.brookings.edu/blog/fixgov/2020/12/09/how-to-get-...
It’s definitely not a done deal yet but it’s within reach.

#25Sounds like a publicity stunt, Salesforce knowing there will be zero uptake of course. The few female employees Salesforce has in Texas are probably of the educated type who aren't having unplanned pregnancies.
Which AP class do people take that magically makes all condoms immune to breaking?

Is Texas flipping blue a real thing? Any more than lets say California flipping red?

Almost all of the states needed to ratify the national popular vote interstate compact have either done so or will do so soon. It’s definitely not a done deal yet but it’s within reach. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Popular_Vote_Inters...
And do you really think the current Supreme Court would let that stand? It seems unlikely to me.

It was before the abortion law. The trends suggested it would be a battleground state in two to four years. I won't touch on the irony of anti-imperialists colonizing Austin, TX.

The recent voting laws they passed are more of an obstacle towards TX going blue.
