Sometimes hard to tell, especially after all these years of Trump. Is “the election was stolen” satire? The difference between satire and reality is in the intent of the author, harder and harder to detect as people read less and less of it

Counterpoint: "Doing it for the lulz" can still observerbly result in radicalization. Tangentally, Poe's law applies to online communities where the original group is satirical, but gradually accretes people who take it very seriously. IIRC, there was a subreddit that started as trolling/satire, and later on became the real hateful thing, and after many years of popularity, was subsequently banned after being feature…
