Humphrey Bogart is an apt comparison considering his character in Breathless explicitly copied Bogart's mannerisms. In one scene he even stares at a picture of Bogart outside a movie theater.

Aside from his contributions to the art he was also influential in starting the Paris Saint Germain soccer club and while the club is now famous for its current ownership (the state of Qatar) the story behind its original founding in 1970 is also very interesting
