#2We are now at the point where 2013 MacBooks have more support than 2017 Windows laptops, and where Microsoft's own $3,499 Surface Studio 2 which you can purchase today will be unsupported in four years. Didn't see that coming.

#3This is the requirements surprise nobody wanted. For Windows users, they have the following options:
1) Use a hacked ISO that removes the TPM requirement.
(This is a quick hack for unsupported machines but will probably break on an update, and comes with a possible risk of tampering, malware in the ISO from third-parties)
2) Upgrade the parts in the machine (TPM 2.0 module, Intel/AMD chip) to meet the hardware requirement.
(Good luck doing that on a laptop. Probably pay someone to do that properly on Desktop machines)
3) Purchase a new PC / laptop that is Windows 11 ready. (Effortless but expensive)
4) Sit on Windows 10, until it is unsupported.
Enthusiasts and early adopters will go with (1), hardware hackers go with (2), security guys will go with (3) and most will give up with (4).
For existing Mac users, there is NO benefit in purchasing an Intel Mac anymore. Would much rather wait and get a M1X Macbook Pro or Air at this point.

Naturally on LTT Forums, they're calling BS because in what world is an 8th gen Intel Atom a better experience than an i7-7700K?
The same director has now said a blog post "clarifying the floor" is coming. If this all blows over and was a mistake, let's just say Microsoft's developers on Twitter and in their docs are just the worst at terminology.

#6Intel and AMD should simplify their CPU design, removing old x86-baggage they carry for compatibility. This will allow to reduce power consumption and be more competitive against ARM-processors.

Enthusiasts and early adopters either already have compatible systems or would go for (3) or (2). And I've installed several CPUs with fans and heatsinks but am not a "hardware hacker"--I don't even own a soldering iron. And if your system has a TPM connector, it would be silly to pay someone else to connect a TPM to it, and if it doesn't then it would be pointless.

That's not the point ... it's about messaging and PR. And he's saying that it's not a matter of what works, but rather about "a great experience".
