Ask HN: Slack vs. Zoom – which do you prefer to discuss product?

#1
I am usually on "business" side of the Product. It is easier for me to describe what I need the product to be like in a call (Zoom, Meet etc.). But my impression is that frequently software engineers, designers and other Makers prefer to minimize the volume of these calls and move to Slack etc.

What is your preferred flow to have Product/Business discussions?

Are you discussing the requirements or collecting them? Those are two different tasks. I’d you’re making a formal specification it is critical for vendors and suppliers to have it on paper. This protects both side and may be why at least a slack chat is being asked for.

In general collecting requirements needs a formal document or other central source of truth, but for discussion it’s better to do this in a meeting with a focus on updating the document afterwards. This really protects both sides.

Yes, this makes total sense with a proper vendor relationship. In my case it is continuous work with the Product team.

I edited my question to be clearer. So thank you :)
