The whole article make its look like any police interaction is somehow a thread to peoples live. Its absurd.
Nothing wrong with recording (where legal) but if you need to stream it and store it on the blockchains you probably need a reality check. What really puts people in danger is the car also a phone being used in the car and then a bazillion other things before police.

Except that there are plenty of examples of a cop going after a bystander who's recording the cop's interaction with someone because the cop doesn't want it recorded — and the cop tells the bystander something like "you're obstructing a police matter," which is ... not correct.

In 2020 in the USA people were twice as likely to get killed by a cop than killed in a mass shooting. Police killed over a thousand people in a single year.

Phrasing it like that makes it seem like it's some kind of freakish accident.
Cops are taught to shoot center of mass of a person basically until they stop moving. They are expected to do this and are judged according to that expectation.
Police is killing people because that's exactly what you expect of the police whenever policeman feels he's threatened.
In USA of course, not in many other first world countries.

#7Incredibly sad that this sort of thing is required. Obviously nobody enjoys getting pulled over, but you should be fearing a fine, not getting beat up or killed.

Unfortunately it's not absurd. Police in the US are extremely dangerous. They have by far the highest killing rate of any advanced nation, and can do so basically with impunity.
Also you do not need to be driving. I've had extremely frightening encounters with police when walking in a public space in broad daylight. The only times (yes, plural) I've ever had a gun pulled on me was by US cops...

I case you could not figure it out I expressed favor to record police interaction where legal. Form all parties (ordinary people but also cops themself should).
There was absolutely no talk about bystander but for the sake of your invalid argument I agree they should also record if possible.

Bystanders especially groups and yelling people pose a significant risk to the police and others involved. If you can't see why they would not let people come close to take the perfect tiktok video you just ignore the reality of police work. They are trained to assure the situation is as safe as possible for everyone involved and keep uninvolved out. Not to provide the best recording angle for bystanders. If you serious think they want people at a distance so they can commit crimes and the evidence videos will be from too far away, then you are delusional and completely out of touch with reality. Its absurdly stupid argument especially if you take into account that almost all cop interactions do not have recording form bystanders so there plenty opportunity for bad cops to do bad.
