How can it be that when a man slaps a womans ass it requires years and years of discussions and countless exclusions, but when a government commits genocide, people happily accepts it? I can only interpret it as a form of bike shedding. Ask yourself this question: Would you have boycotted the 1936 Olympics knowing what you know now about the German regime? The evidence is all there for everyone to see.
This is a very interesting question though your question can be framed with a less provocative example ;) The same reason we criticize other democracies for the most minor of offenses but give Saudi Arabia a pass. We needle those who are needled but avoid those who DGAF or have levers of power over us. The Chinese just DGAF and they have amassed an immense amount of power.
