Digg had Reddit waiting in the wings to take advantage of their missteps. While other Reddit-like sites exist, none of them seem to be capable or even desire to be the next Reddit. The opportunity is certainly there but there's little interest most likely because Reddit has no good path to profitability. Anyone who invests in a Reddit killer would need to do it for reasons other than monetary.

People revolted against Digg because their redesign was a mess. Reddit's redesign is an equal disaster and viewing it on a phone is impossible because it employs dark patters to force you into an app. Yet, there's no proportional response in this case.

People didn't revolt against Digg because of the redesign, they revolted because Digg gave publishers priority over the site content instead of users.

The site was a broken web 2.0 mess. This is what caused the most dissatisfaction.

How things were sorted on the main page, obstensively to stop from getting botted, was a secondary concern as most people just read and don't comment.

Even as the product of a dysfunctional home, Aimee's actions and political positions are unacceptable, and should be swatted down - if only to teach her that they are not okay.

Who really needs to be taken to task for this: Anyone who participated in the hiring and then covering for this creep. Hiring Aimee Challenor in a well-supervised manual labor position would be commendable. Hiring Aimee Challenor as an moderator of an online forum, based on her history of moderating an online forum aimed at children, knowing her political positions (and there's no argument to be made that they didn't, as the whole thing came about because they had instituted special protections based on those) should result in jail time.

Almost nobody claims to be a libertarian or gets elected by the party. Justin Amash and Ron Paul are maybe the only famous politicians. I don't know where you get these ideas. I was participating both online and offline in Libertarian communities.

Is the point of libertarianism to participate in a community? (Maybe it is.)

They haven't, like, done anything though. Not many politicians elected, no drugs legalized, noone freed from prison, state control over people generally not reduced. I have heard of a few attempts to start libertarian cities that failed because you can't get a Walmart when your taxes are too low to construct a sewer line.
