#2Is anyone using filecoin around here not for messing around or hobby stuff that could share their opinion of the product?
I really like the approach protocol labs has taken with libp2p, multiformats, ipfs and the like and it seems quite a few companies are leveraging these technologies day to day. I wonder if it’s the same case with filecoin or if it is still too early for people to have given it a shot.

#4Should probably spell out billion. I initially read it as 2.5gb. Or maybe use a larger unit since this is a more tech focused site.

#6I am a huge crypto enthusiast, and it is cutting edge technology that HN users might love. But I would be very careful with these kind of posts. This is a very slippery slope to shilling and posting updates from the various projects that usually mean very little.

I know exactly where you are coming from. I think this is somewhat different from usual shilling because shilling mostly involves statements that are vague or doubtful or having uncertain implications: "chain X signs an agreement to bring African government onto blockchain". Say "Uniswap processes $100 billion total transactions" is qualitatively different although not really relevant to HN. The news under question is pretty concrete and more relevant. Filecoin is a blockchain but it is a technology too.
