Okay but people who aren't mechanics, but drive, still know how to do things like turn the car on, and understand that if they turn the steering wheel right, the wheels point to the right. They understand that the car needs gas, even if they don't really know why it needs gas. Don't forget the numerous add-ons, skins if I remember correctly end-to-end encryption was just a PGP add-on away and you're right pidgin was one of the first things I installed on Linux machines and it's clone Adium for Mac OSX[1]. Have you seen the latest review of the Librem 5 from Linus Tech Tips?
