#2The average application taking 31 minutes seems high. Some of the bigger companies the article references have seamless application processes as well that parse your resume. I would say I apply to most roles in less than 5 minutes, but I am also not tailoring my resume for those roles or writing cover letters.

Lower level roles almost torture you with stupid questions.
' Do you get upset easily? ' ' How often do you use the bathroom with the door open ?' 'How much wood could a woodpecker chuck if a wood pecker could chuck wood ?'
At my senior level I rarely spend more that 20 minutes before confirmation of a phone screen or a rejection

I think for the larger companies it's on the low side. (since I didn't personally actually want the job.)
Take Amazon for example, for a low level position, you have to make an account (with verification), submit your personal information, then do a personality test, and a weird stacking assessment.
I tried to replicate the process authentically, but at the end of the day, I didn't want the job, so I would think and if I didn't know the best answer, pick one.
If I really wanted the job, I would have spent more time finding the "right" answer.
