I felt terrorized. I'd wager a lot of other ordinary people did too.
There was a lot of pearl clutching about chaz and other BLM violence as well. So were they terrorists?

#202Hm, I just posted "stop the steal" on my Facebook page (along with a disclaimer), and it's still there six minutes later. Maybe it takes 24 hours to get picked up? Or do they just cloak the posting?
I have some experience on doing this type of work for large publications. We would always show the user their own content but would not show it to anyone else.

#203im saying this because it seems like such an obvious point but i havent seen it here- why are people who want the government to be replaced by the "free market" allowed to be upset that private companies are silencing them? what is the rationale for squaring this circle
They want the government to replaced by the free market for other people . For them, it's government benefits all the way. The political scientist and author Frank Wilhoit talked about it in his works: > Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: there must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.
The quote was made by a different Frank Wilhoit on the Crooked Timber blog / community.

I don’t know how to answer your question outside of anology. It’s possible to want one thing and not another.

The opposite of a contradiction is another contradiction. Why are people that believe in regulation of the world's largest corporations suddenly laissez-faire libertarians? If you have opposed the Citizen's United ruling for a decade, don't suddenly act like you care about a corporation's civil liberties, including freedom of association and freedom of expression. The answer is obvious: both sides want power more tha…
You’re unintentionally making a straw man. There is no contradiction. I believe social media should be regulated more tightly. Until then they have the freedom to remove the content according to their TOS. Just because I’m pointing out that they have the freedom it doesnt mean I believe they should continue to have the freedom. Government regulations are desperately needed. Even more so, government enforcement of exi…

Should the media, or anyone, be referring to them as "terrorists"? Generally a terrorist uses extreme violence to "terrorize", hence the name. A crowd of morons busting into the Capitol building, calmly wandering the hallways, and taking selfies, scarcely meets the definition, even if some of the politicians felt terror. If only the 9/11 terrorists, and all terrorists, were this tame.
Terrorism is (roughly) defined as violent or dangerous acts by non-state actors meant to intimidate people into political or social change. That is exactly what happened on Wednesday.

Crushing competition is certainly a thing that can happen in a free market.
Isn’t a free market the lack of any government regulation and leaving it up to the “Invisible Hand”? With that definition, monopolies are still “free market”. I guess it depends on your definition of “free market”?
Pure markets are impossible in these environments

#209Are we really so stupid that we cannot see through this kind of thing and need to actively censor it to have civilized society continue to function? When do we just give up on democracy completely?
