The US economy lost 140k jobs in December. All of them were held by women

This is a net number. Meaning some number of men lost jobs but there were a greater number of men who gained jobs. Similarly some number of women gained jobs but there were a greater number who lost jobs.

The headline seems to imply that only women lost jobs in December which is more dramatic than the truth!
