Considering how often GameBoys are used for chiptunes, maybe there's a crowd of people that want this emulated?

In any case, even if it doesn't have an inherent use, I still think it's rather cool.

I'm sorry for not been clear enough but you probably misinterpreted that, it's like when someone visit you and brought a bottle of fine wine as present, you welcome him and says "This is so unnecessary! (but of course I appreciate that)", notice the emotion and hands on his face? well maybe this is a cultural thing.

The emulator VICE emulates the video chip's interference with the audio output. When I heard that faint hum again, that changed in timbre with the flashing of the cursor, I was floored.

Just wanted to add that VICE is a Commodore 64 emulator. VICE can emulate other Commodore systems but probably not as completely as the C64...

Their VIC-20 emulation is ridiculously good. And I had a VIC-20 as a kid, so it was that emulator that triggered my nostalgia.
