> 9. Steeping minutes: Green at 3, black at 4, herbal at 5. Good tea is that simple! That just sounds incredibly bitter. I highly recommend using more tea to less water, and much, much, much lower steep times. Especially for greens as they're more delicate. If your tea is bitter or astringent, its a combination of water that might be too hot, and long steep times. 80-90C for most green teas. The hotter you go the low…

Google/DDG/Bing it and read some forum threads. Sure you can't get people to spoon feed you answers that way but do you really want to be spoon fed by people who don't actually know anything?
>Google/DDG/Bing it and read some forum threads and that doesn't have the reddit shill issue? > Sure you can't get people to spoon feed you answers that way but do you really want to be spoon fed by people who don't actually know anything? Or you know, people want to spend 10 minutes looking for the best product, rather than spending a few days going down a rabbit hole of their own personal research.

#283> After a breakup, cease all contact as soon as practical. The potential for drama is endless, and the potential for a good friendship is negligible. Strange. It's a bit of a red flag if someone is in complete radio silence with all their exes, frankly. Obviously, you aren't going to enjoy hanging out next week, but I'm surprised you dated enough that there's a "breakup" if you don't enjoy each other enough to have s…
Friendship after that is possible, but will undoubtedly be a complex relationship that will take much attention and care to manage. Most of the time one (or several) simpler relationships will be better for all parties. Complete radio silence isn't the requirement, and lack of contact isn't the goal; it's a means.

#284> If your work is done on a computer, get a second monitor. Less time navigating between windows means more time for thinking. I don't agree. Use a virtual desktop instead and switch workspaces with a keyboard shortcut. I'm currently using 9 workspaces, and monitors couldn't ever beat that UX.
I do love me some virtual desktops with a bonus non-switching physical one to the side

Shifting your eyeballs to another monitor will always be more efficient than the key combinations to toggle back and forth between workspaces.

#286I'm enjoying this, and I also appreciate how it is a delightful accidental commentary of the lesswrong crowd. I especially appreciated this one: > You can figure out doing laundry
We're talking about the movement that created "Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality" though, I'm not expecting life-shattering insights in a list by them anyways.

#288As someone with concerning myopia, the 20-20-20 rule has always been a difficult habit to make. 20 minutes is not long and getting up to look at something outside is quite demanding. I often have 2-4 hour sessions without looking away if I'm in flow or distracted.

91. don't buy XRP but in seriousness, I think it is easier to apply these rules to people you know than strangers. Look how often people lose patience with each other online. >85. Cultivate compassion for those less intelligent than you. Many people, through no fault of their own, can’t handle forms, scammers, or complex situations. Be kind to them because the world is not. Interestingly, being smart does not protect…
> Look how often people lose patience with each other online. I think this is largely an issue of scale. Say you are driving on a single-lane, one-way road, which ends at a T intersection with a stop sign. The other road is also 1-way, 1-lane, and does not have a stop sign. It has a traffic light around 20 car lengths after your road. You are waiting for a chance to turn in; the other road has a fair amount of traffi…

I don't bear ill will towards my exes and would be totally willing to grab a coffee with any of them. That said: it has always been my experience that cutting off contact is best for me emotionally regardless of if I broke up with them or vice versa.
IME, cutting contact particularly useful/beneficial for men in the relationship.
