Dear HN community, we are happy to announce the release of MediaCMS on Github! It is a modern CMS built in Django/PostgreSQL/React and a REST API, released under AGPL license.

MediaCMS handles the life cycle of media files and is deal for those who want to build online communities around media file sharing, for informational, educational or entertainment purposes.

As stated on our page on Github, we have three goals for MediaCMS: a) deliver all functionality one would expect from a modern system, b) allow for easy installation and maintenance, c) allow easy customization and addition of features.

The demo is really well polished, love the Youtube aesthetic. I am going to try out using this for some of my needs. Love the stack.

I think the documentation visibility could be a bit better, instead of config docs in an MD file in the repo, maybe abstracting to another page on your landing site and linking in the header for more direct access.

Really nice!

Not sure why too many haven't chimed in here but damn this is a awesome platform! Thanks for providing it open src!

I wrote you a separate email .....

Some features that would be great for mediaCMS:

-OpenCV for facial and object recognition for auto identification and categorizing

-Read image/video metadata to auto title generation instead of IMG_12324_433.jpg

-A.I. to group and create a story from pics/vids based on time/location/faces etc...

and/or make it extensiveable so one could create plugins? You could create your own app store for your platform. Great way to monetize.

Thanks for these suggestions, once we start releasing documentation for developers and content as architecture diagrams, extending the software will be greatly facilitated for all!
