Pretty certain the TRRS image is incorrect. Tip is always left audio.

That is absolutely not true. TFA links to [1] and while left audio is the most common, there are all sorts of combinations seen in the wild.

I don't seem to be coming across any pinouts where tip is ground. I'm still convinced the image is incorrect.
