Firefox doesn't stutter on infinite scroll sites like Twitter. Safari noticeably does, even in Big Sur. So I am torn between the two.

I assume this means it’s compiling with Xcode targeting the M1. Firefox has never had to target aarch64 on macOS before.
It's long since targeted aarch64 on Linux though, so it's not too surprising to me that they have it ready so quickly.
Apple ARM dev kits have been available for a few months, also.

#46This is great news. Based on the early reviews coming in, native Apple apps perform amazingly well on the M1 chips. So it's going to be really important for third-party apps to support M1 natively to remain competitive.
Early reviews suggest x86 apps run very fast too.
I believe that's due to ahead-of-time transpilation, but as noted in another thread, JIT code within the browser would need to be transpiled just-in-time which would mean pauses during runtime.

Have you tried Safari 14? I recently upgraded and they’ve finally fixed the address bar race conditions and swipe back/forward lag which drove me away in previous versions.

Short answer: Safari 14 supports the same standard for extensions that Firefox and Chrome do, with the addition of some security issues the other browsers don't seem to care about, including not implementing certain features to hurt privacy and security.
Many authors have used Apple's utility to convert their extensions for use in Safari.

The author will likely need to make a few tweaks and changes; it shouldn't be that hard.

Docker has already addressed that, and a link was posted about it yesterday in HN.
They addressed it, but didn't give any indication when x86 containers will be ready (and how they'll do it). Expect at least next year.
and this was my main concern. Most teams I've worked in that used docker use x86 containers for the dev containers.
