#3This might come handy to resize all the images for my static website, which was hammered by HN this week as it reached the front page. This lack of optimisation increased my AWS invoice 3 times (because of CloudFront outgoing bandwidth).

Yann, co-founder of Koyeb here.
You can actually deploy both: * docker containers, in this case you build your own container and we deploy/host it for you with native autoscaling. It's really useful if you have system dependencies or want to control the build process. * Python/Node functions, similar to lambda in the principle, but in this case we also take of all the build process, you simply connect your GitHub repository, we deploy and scale for you.

#7The lack of known pricing makes me nervous to give this a shot. The one year free tier is very generous but without knowing what my bill as a hobbyist might look like after that, real shy about giving it a go.

To give you an idea, we charge $1 per 10 hours of compute, accounted by 100ms. Each function or container has 1GB of RAM available. We also charge $0.01/GB of bandwidth.
The business plans include multi-user, longer log retention, custom S3 supports (on-premise) and advanced SLA.

#9I've seen the event-driven idea implemented on AWS with lambdas that launch ECS tasks, but it's a pain.

#10What is the best practice to ship the compiled data to an rdbms from your platform? I am asking because you list data science in your use cases and most data from analytics jobs ends in a database eventually
