The 16GB max ram still seems a head scratcher. Not what would suppose I want for video editing.

I've got 16GB in my 2015 MBP and editing 1080p in FCPX it never slows down at all.

I currently have the same MacBook but everything seems to be breaking (keyboard, battery, screen, major OS upgrades fail, etc) and it needs to be replaced. But 16gigs seems not very future proof. I’m already having issues with some video codecs I can’t work with, example .360 GoPro files. (I bought an iPhone SE to handle that!)

The MacBook has 8 cores vs 4 (hyperthreaded) in the Dell.

M1 doubled it on single core performance.

This seems more relevant to me, 2019 16" MBP vs 2020 13" MBA https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/compare/4651583?baselin.... It is quite close! Not sure how significant it is that these tests were done on different versions of geekbench, so maybe caveat?

They showed this during the previous transition announcement. They flashed up a screen of various open source tools that they’ve tested. It even included Blender.
