Max 16GB of RAM on these new machines is really not that great to be honest. The mini supported up to 64GB before.

Apple said the transition is going to take 2 years. This is day 1. You can still buy Intel based Macs with 64GB RAM. When Apple phases those out and you still can't buy 64GB Macs, then you can complain.
