NOCD | Senior Full Stack Product Engineer | https://www.treatmyocd.com/ | Chicago & REMOTE (US) | Full Time | Competitive compensation + Full Benefits Full Description: https://www.notion.so/Senior-Full-Stack-Product-Engineer-7e5...

Tools we use:

  - Web : NextJS / Typescript / Tailwind CSS / Netlify / React
  - Backend : Python Flask / MySQL Aurora / Stripe + Paypal / Aptible / AWS

  - Internal Tools : Retool / React Native / Google Sheets
  - Communication : Pen + Paper / Whiteboard / Figma / Google Docs / Figma + Sketch / Slack / Clickup
Mission

Despite being ranked by the World Health Organization as a top 10 most disabling condition, having a lifetime prevalence of over 2%, and causing people to be 10 times more likely to die by suicide, OCD is commonly misrepresented as a personality quirk. Moreover, the "gold-standard" treatment for OCD called Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) has never been widely-accessible.

NOCD provides evidence based care through ERP sessions with a NOCD specialist. Our company started after our [founders' own experience with OCD](https://theocdstories.com/episode/story-stephen-smith-nocd-f...) - trying to understand what was happening, going through various misdiagnoses, and finally working with an ERP specialist to get better.

Things you might do:

- Build a modern clinical EHR - help us bring great user experiences to the clinical setting

- Implement data pipelines on GCP as we work on research (https://www.treatmyocd.com/blog/columbia-university-medical-...)

- Work with internal support teams so they can offer the best experience to our members

- Simplify Billing + Insurance - Many people have used Stripe (which we use) but we’re bringing insurance billing to the modern age as well

- Lead a new product initiative - How can we help families be more involved in the treatment process for example

SimplePay | Ruby on Rails Developers | UTC+0 to UTC+8 | REMOTE | USD42k-USD60k

SimplePay is a profitable, bootstrapped online payroll software company, with solid annual growth. Our software lets thousands of small business owners (and their accountants) run their South African, Ireland, Singapore and Hong Kong payrolls without headaches, so they can focus on the challenge of building their businesses.

Our development team was already mostly remote pre-pandemic.

To find out more about us, check our developer blog (https://tech.simplepay.cloud) or about page (https://www.simplepay.co.za/about)

Do you believe most SPAs are a pile of steaming crap, but wouldn't mind digging into Vue.js for pages that will benefit from the increased interactivity? Do you laugh when people give up the power of PostgreSQL in favour of data stores that don't offer any benefits for their use case? If so, you may fit in well with our mindset.

Experience: Due to our full pipeline, we can only hire developers who have a few years of Rails experience at this time, or highly experienced polyglots who at least know some Ruby. The work is mostly on the back-end, but some front-end skills are welcome.

Location: UTC+0 to UTC+8

Please mail developers+hn@simplepay.cloud to apply. Your resume / CV must be attached in PDF format. Start your email body with the following 2 headers:

Timezone: Your timezone here

PR/Issue: A link to a PR or issue you've logged for an open source project, no matter how small or long ago.

Scribd | Software Engineers | San Francisco, Toronto, Amsterdam | ONSITE or REMOTE | VISA

Scribd is a reading subscription that gives you access to the best books, audiobooks, magazines, and more. Our mission is to change how the world reads. Last year we hit 1M paying subscribers (https://techcrunch.com/2019/01/28/scribd-1-million-subscribe...). Earlier this year we acquired SlideShare (https://techcrunch.com/2020/08/11/scribd-acquires-slideshare...). We are one of the oldest YC startups (YC ’06), operating one of the largest Ruby on Rails sites.

Scribd has a very friendly, engineering-driven company culture with competitive salary and great benefits. We are ambitious but at the same time we value a good work life balance. In general we care way more about your personality, communication, and hacking skills than what languages and technologies you’ve used so far.

We are hiring software engineers across the board (see https://www.scribd.com/careers), including:

* The Payments team is looking for mid-level to senior engineers to help us build smart payment systems. Our mission is to grow revenue with sophisticated, reliable and secure international payments. The Payments team works on exciting projects that cover Product, Infrastructure, Finance. We are in an interesting phase of applying machine learning to optimize authorization rates and personalizing user's payment experience. We are hiring for two positions: https://jobs.lever.co/scribd/9a29a357-4a39-47f0-a79a-b4c77b1... and https://jobs.lever.co/scribd/5743db19-7a5e-4875-af2f-1be8def...

* Technical Lead Manager for SlideShare: we are looking for a strong tech lead with some engineering management experience (or interest to get into management) to lead a small, fast moving team that takes ownership of SlideShare and works on its roadmap to make SlideShare shine. (If you are interested, please reach out to me directly: adrian at scribd.com)

* Web Frontend Engineering Manager: https://jobs.lever.co/scribd/317a4755-d9a0-4d31-ab8e-b5f676e...

* Lead Software Engineer for Content Understanding: https://jobs.lever.co/scribd/5c76aa72-b1a6-4345-bf42-50407ae...

* The Core Infrastructure team is looking for Site Reliability and Infrastructure Engineers to help in our shift from a traditional operations model to a service-oriented organization. This team provides key components to our backend technology stack such as: container orchestration infrastructure, logging services, monitoring and alerting patterns, caching layers, and relational/non-relational clustered data storage. Remote / Canada: https://jobs.lever.co/scribd/503a16da-a319-42f6-9c73-ee2a6e5... - San Francisco: https://jobs.lever.co/scribd/6267a119-7ffe-4d84-984a-29fe94b...

* The Data Engineering team is in need of Senior Engineers onsite in our San Francisco office, onsite in our Toronto office, or remote within the United States. Our mission is to delivery analytical and behavior datasets to our internal customers. We work with very large datasets and ensure we can build them to be reliable, scalable and maintainable and support numerous teams within Scribd, for example Business Analytics and Data Science just to name a couple. We are looking for folks who have a passion for developing data pipelines on modern data engineering platforms. Experience with streaming technologies and Spark are a strong plus. https://jobs.lever.co/scribd/46a9ef46-d214-483d-be09-f811c8b...

We have hired many people from these HN threads, including myself (back in 2012!). We already have amazing customers like Figma, Notion, Clearbit, LogDNA, Mode Analytics, Terminus, Rippling, etc. We are looking to expand our small team (7 so far) to continue iterating our product and grow our customer base!

Earlier quoted context omitted.

Any hints about the compensation? E.g. is it worth to apply from Switzerland? "Nettoomsättning per anställd" number is interesting at https://www.allabolag.se/5568951213/bokslut

This is a tricky question to answer. :) First and foremost we want to find the right people for our team. In order to hire people remotely across Europe we need to adapt compensation rates based on where you're located. However, if you apply from Switzerland you're probably competing with candidates from countries where the asking rate is lower, so that may be a disadvantage if everything else is "equal". Please emai…

A small feedback if you don't mind: you might be at disadvantage compared to other (most) remote companies who pay based on their HQ. Why would e.g. Romanian dev consider your "Romanian rate" offer when a competing German company offers a "German rate"?

Also, your subscription plans are the same for every country.
