Same but they didn't care if it was my last job or previous jobs. So as long as you don't burn bridges at every job it doesn't much matter.
This works if you didn't stay for a long time at your last job.
It still works as long as people you knew have moved on from your last job. Just ask them for a reference. There's always edge cases but I'd argue the vast majority of people in tech aren't impacted by them.

In my experience, acqui-hires benefit the company far more than the employees who get moved to a different company. The first time I was acquihired, my compensation actually decreased because they kept my base salary and rewrote the bonus structure such that it was impossible to hit previous payouts. Most aquisition I have seen have not been aqui-hire but aqui-fire. A company spins off or sells a chunk to another company that they no longer want but can't afford to lay off. Often to large consultancies etc whom then offer a worse deal or a year later offer a worse deal, and most people leave. Problem solved as no long term union negotiation and long severance pay needed as they left on their own accord... And the consultancy gains some IP and maintenance contracts it can ship off elsewhere.
